Kosrae Island is in Micronesia, an island group in the middle of Pacific Ocean that is just north of the Equator and covers an area as large as the United States. You probably know about the diving in Palau, Yap and Truk (Chuuk). Kosrae Island is also in Micronesia, just not as well known, which means you will often have the miles of rich and diverse coral reefs, and amazing mountains and rain forests to yourself! Kosrae is becoming a destination for scuba divers and hikers. The coral reefs that surround the island are kept in pristine condition through an extensive mooring buoy system, installed and maintained by concerned expat dive operators with the help of the government's Marine Resources office.
