St. Eustatius has described by many as "old school" Caribbean. The Island lays 33 miles south of Sint Maarten. It has a very rich and interesting history. Statia is a volcanic island and as such has volcanic sand beaches. The area was a very wealthy trading place in the golden age of the Caribbean. From this area St. Eustatius has gotten the nickname the golden rock of the Caribbean. Find yourself a nice spot with some shade of the sea grape, while you doze off with the gentle sounds of the waves splashing the sandy shores.
